Landsat bands will be synthesized from Hyperion and the continuity with earlier Landsats will be validated. The preferred bands and algorithms for forestry from Hyperion will be identified. Classifications of EO-1 data will be compared with earlier Landsats.

The four primary test sites are: the Greater Victoria Watershed in British Columbia; Clayoquot Sound, British Columbia; Algoma, Ontario; and Hoquiam, Washington. The three secondary test sites are: BOREAS SSA, Saskatchewan; BOREAS NSA, Manitoba; and Hinton, Alberta.

The EO-1 data will be evaluated for the measurement of forest structure, canopy chemistry, LAI, proportional estimation, and land cover change
